The Results Are In!

Yes indeed. It's been a while since I've put anything onto this here blog thingy, but staying true to my word I am now writing a post because I actually have something running related to relate. (Crappy sentence, but like I said, it's been a while...) And I can't believe I missed all of January in blogging terms!

On the left you will see part of the MRI image that I received in good-old cd-rom format on Friday. Look at those abs! I cut off the bottom to spare you the high resolution details of my goods and berries. You're welcome, or sorry, as the case may be...

Anyway, the problem is not in the abs (spectacular as they are), but rather somewhere altogether different. As I suspected all along, I have a case of Athletic Pubalgia, otherwise known as "Sports Hernia" or "Groin Disruption Injury". The actual radiology report uses some fancy terms like "tractional changes of the adductor origins" and "parasymphyseal bone marrow edema" and "cystic change", blah blah blah. In short, my pelvis is messed up, is unstable, and I aggravated lots of things by running and doing heavy weights. Had I been given an MRI back in September I think more fancy words would have been used.

The good news is that I was not just imagining this (as my original doctor said this was "just a strain" and sent me off with a lot of heavy duty drugs to cope with the pain). The other good news is that things are improving and I don't think I will need anything invasive to achieve full recovery. I am seeing a specialist in April and will continue to work with my RMT to get my hips back in the right position and release the nerves and such.

The bad news is that running is not yet on the horizon for yours truly. This is a real bummer since the Winter we've been having resembles Spring and there is no snow to speak of. I keep seeing runners in shorts and curse their healthy pelvises every friggin' time!

Keep on keepin' on...
